Dr. Vieth is Professor, Departments of Nutritional Sciences and Laboratory Medicine and
Pathobiology, University of Toronto and Clinical Chemist and Director of the Bone and
Mineral Lab, and Director of Point-of-Care Testing, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto.
Dr. Vieth’s research focuses on the safety of vitamin D as well as the roles played by
vitamin D in multiple sclerosis, diabetes, including cancers of the breast and prostate, and
. Dr. Vieth has been a Scientific Advisory Panel Consultant for the Osteoporosis Society
of Canada 2001 -2008. He is on the expert panel to develop the vitamin D position of the
American Geriatrics Society. He is the only Canadian listed by the Cholecalciferol
Council for media consultation in the field of vitamin D. The American Journal of
Clinical Nutrition lists 4 of his publications among its 25 most read articles.
