PAUL WALFISH

Paul Walfish is currently an Emeritus Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics, Otolaryngology, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the University of Toronto and a Senior Endocrine Consultant at Mount Sinai Hospital. His research laboratory has made many healthcare contributions in thyroidology, which have been recognized by numerous prestigious national and international awards, including the Order of Canada, Order of Ontario and awards from the American Thyroid Association. Healthcare advances were achieved in the institution of newborn screening for congenital hypothyroidism, ultrasound and needle biopsy in the detection of thyroid cancer as well as the recognition and management of the post-partum thyroiditis syndrome.
