Paul J. Allison

Dr. Paul Allison is a dentist with specialist training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental public health and a PhD in cancer epidemiology. Appointed to the McGill Faculty of Dentistry in 1999 as an Assistant Professor, he became Dean in 2008 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2009. He was the recipient of awards from CIHR, NCIC and FRSQ to support his training and is now an internationally recognized expert in the assessment of oral health in challenging populations including infants, young children and people with Down syndrome. He has conducted extensive research into the psychosocial problems experienced by people with head and neck cancer and has developed and tested interventions to reduce anxiety and depression and improve their quality of life. He has been Director of the FRSQ-funded Network for Oral and Bone Health Research and currently chairs the CAHS Panel conducting the assessment on Improving Access to Oral Health Care.
