MICHAEL STRONG

Dr. Strong is a national and international leader in the field of neurodegeneration. His research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) has fundamentally changed our understanding of altered protein metabolism in this devastating fatal disorder. For this work, Dr. Strong was awarded the prestigious Sheila Essey Award for ALS Research by the American Academy of Neurology – only the second Canadian to receive this award. He is a highly respected clinician as well as a researcher, appreciated for his expertise and compassion. For his commitment to the care of ALS patients, he has received an Honorary Life Membership in the ALS Society of Canada and the Hilda Glassman award by the American ALS Association.
