MICHAEL S. KRAMER

Michael Kramer is a Canadian icon. He is one of the world’s most distinguished perinatal epidemiologists. His leadership is most evident in his current position as Scientific Director, CIHR Institute of Human Development and Child and Youth Health. His creativity is manifested in his many scholarly publications, especially those emanating from the landmark Promotion of Breastfeeding Intervention Trial (PROBIT). This elegant, painstaking research program produced a clear result that resulted in several policy changes and has influenced how child health professionals now view breastfeeding. Moreover, it laid a solid foundation for the entire science of pregnancy-related outcomes.
