Dr. Gray-Donald is Associate Professor in the School of Dietetics and Human Nutrition
and Associate Member in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McGill
University. Dr. Gray-Donald is President-Elect for the Canadian Nutrition Society.
Dr Gray-Donald is involved in studies of the nutritional health of different high risk
populations in Canada and abroad. These high risk groups currently under study are
children at elevated risk of obesity and the elderly.
Dr Gray-Donald is interested in understanding the lifestyle related causes of childhood obesity and the metabolic
consequences of obesity in children. This research is being conducted within a large cohort
study which is being led by Dr Marie Lambert at the Hopital Ste Justine. In addition Dr
Gray-Donald is studying interventions directed towards healthy lifestyles through both
environmental changes, such as the food offered in workplace settings. At the other end of
the lifespan, Dr Gray-Donald is working with Dr Helene Payette who has established a
cohort of almost 2000 healthy seniors who are being followed in Montreal and
Sherbrooke, Quebec to understand changes in nutritional status with aging and how
nutrition has an impact on functional decline, cognitive decline, weight loss and the
development of frailty and disability.
