Hani EI-Gabalawy is Professor of Medicine at the University of Manitoba, Rheumatology Research Chair, and Head of the Section of Rheumatology. He is an internationally recognized leader in rheumatoid arthritis research. He has published landmark studies on synovial biology, the pathogenesis of early arthritis, and has recently established a unique First Nations cohort to study gene-environment interactions in the pre-clinical phase of arthritis. He has been awarded the NIH Clinical Center Bench to Bedside Award, the Jeff Shiroky Memorial Prize in Rheumatology and is an Associate Editor of Arthritis and Rheumatism, the leading professional rheumatology journal.
