Ed Wagner, Group Health Cooperative – Seattle

Ed Wagner is a physician/epidemiologist and the director of The W.A. MacColl Institute for Healthcare Innovation, Group Health Cooperative of Puget
Sound in Washington.  Dr. Wagner’s work includes studies of interventions to reduce disability in seniors and to enhance the care of persons with chronic illness. 

He has published extensively with research interests and experience including chronic illness management; collaborative approaches to transforming health care systems; cancer control and quality of life; and aging & geriatrics.

He has published articles in over 250 peer review journals, been a lead or contributing author of 20 books and technical reports and has shared his findings and experience through hundreds of national and international presentations.

Ed Wagner’s significant contributions have been recognized through many special honors and appointments, including membership in the US Institute of Medicine and participation in the WHO initiative for improving care for chronic conditions.  He is a graduate of Princeton University, State University of New York at Buffalo and University of North Carolina.
