DIANE FINEGOOD

Diane Finegood was appointed as inaugural Scientific Director of the CIHR Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes in December 2000. She has implemented a unique model amongst ClHR Institutes with the identification of a single priorit, namely obesity. She has helped to grow Canada’s obesity research and knowledge transfer efforts through support for research projects, networks, trainees and creation of innovative partnerships with various organizations. Her major discovery in the neonatal wave of islet beta cell death led to her role as founding director of a beta cell apoptosis and autoimmunity research network funded by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
