CHARLES N BERNSTEIN

Charles Bernstein, Professor of Medicine at University of Manitoba is Head, Section of Gastroenterology and Director of the University of Manitoba Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinical and Research Centre. He is an internationally recognized leader in the study of inflammatory bowel disease. He has developed the largest validated population based database of IBC in North America and his group has harnessed this database to pursue outcomes nd eiologic research in IBC. Dr. Bernstein was awarded with an Rh Institute Award for Outstanding Contributions to Scholarship and Research in the Health Sciences, held a CIHR Investigator Award (2001-2006) and in his second term as a Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada Research Scientist, a peer review award that recognizes excellence and leadership in advancing the science of IBC. His peers have chosen him to be listed in Best Doctors in Canada in 2007. He is currently the Scientific Secretary for the International Organization for the Study of IBC (IOIBD). He has published over 200 peer reviewed articles, 18 book chapters, and he is the editor of The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Yearbook, which is now in its 6th edition.
