Allan Ronald

Dr. Allan Ronald is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. In 1980, he cofounded the investigation unit for studying HIV and STDs with the University of Nairobi. He was President of the International Society of Infectious Diseases from 1996 to 1998. Dr. Ronald lived in Uganda from 2002 to 2004, during which he assisted with organizing the Makerere University Infectious Diseases Institute training and clinical services. He was also Chair of Internal Medicine at the University of Manitoba and Physician in Chief of the Health Sciences Centre and is currently the Scientific Director of the International Centre for Infectious Diseases in Winnipeg.  Dr. Ronald is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, an Officer of the Order of Canada, and is the 2006 recipient of the Wightman Award from the Gairdner Foundation of Canada.

Le Dr Allan Ronald est professeur émérite distingué à l’Université du Manitoba, à Winnipeg, au Canada. En 1980, il a cofondé l’unité de recherche pour l’étude du VIH et des ITS avec l’Université de Nairobi. Il a été président de la International Society of Infectious Diseases de 1996 à 1998. Le Dr Ronald a vécu en Ouganda de 2002 à 2004. Pendant ces années, il a participé à l’organisation des services cliniques et de formation du Infectious Diseases Institute de l’université Makerere. Il a également été directeur du Département de médecine interne de l’Université du Manitoba et médecin-chef du Health Sciences Centre, et il est actuellement directeur scientifique du International Centre for Infectious Diseases à Winnipeg. Le Dr Ronald est membre de la Société royale du Canada, est Officier de l’Ordre du Canada et a reçu le prix Wightman de la fondation Gairdner du Canada en 2006.
